Introduction to Emily’s Companionship Care and our services
Companions provide a variety of beneficial services that make life more manageable for older adults and people with disabilities. Companionship itself is perhaps the most important, particularly for those who live alone and find it difficult to get out of the house. Adults living independently often experience loneliness and isolation, and companions engage in conversation, take walks with their care recipients, and play games like card games or board games, and simply provide a listening ear and someone to talk to.
Older adults and people with disabilities may also struggle with mobility and other challenges that make carrying out everyday tasks like washing dishes and laundry difficult. By taking care of tasks like light housekeeping, companions alleviate a tremendous burden from their care recipients, resulting in greater quality of life.
What is Companionship Care?
Depending on the type of assistance needed we can provide a range of companionship services by visiting you in your own home for a coffee and a chat, or by assisting you to get out the house or attend social activities such as a trip to the garden centre. You may wish to be accompanied to your hospital or doctors appointment, clubs, day centres, or to visit friends. You may wish to be accompanied and supported on personal shopping trip, either for groceries or shopping for a special occasion. Even wrapping gifts for friends and family. We also provide meal preparation and light housekeeping. We even offer befriending services by putting you in touch with other clients of ours with similar interests who may welcome some company.
